Move-In Day Timeline

This is the exact format I used to wrap my head around what we needed to do once we checked in on campus and met the roommate (and their family!).

Mine wasn’t nearly this pretty—it was just part of my spreadsheet—but having a rough plan really helped us. You’ve got a limited amount of time, emotions tend to be high, and this gave us a framework for the day.

The link above will take you to the Dorm Packing Spreadsheet, and this graphic can also be found in the tabs along the bottom.

The Move-In Mindset

One of the biggest things I learned is that having a plan helps—but holding that plan loosely helps even more. Move-in day is exciting, emotional, busy, and sometimes a little chaotic.

This graphic walks you through the mindset shifts and practical lessons that helped us focus on what mattered most: supporting your college student as they start this next chapter.

Top Tips & Lessons Learned

These are the little things I wish someone had told me before we moved our twins into two different colleges three days apart. Some will save you time, some will save you money, and a few might save your sanity. Think of this as the friend-to-friend advice section of the resource.
